Minnesota Prosecutes Ebay Jokester Seeking to Sell Vote on Ebay
Prosecutors from the beautiful state of Minnesota have filed charges in Federal Court against a 19-year-old college kid who jokingly offered to sell his vote on eBay. Is it just me, or is the State of Minnesota wasting resources on this one? Surely, the prosecutors, having sat through three years of classes at some of our country’s top law schools, have developed some understanding of Americans’ sense of humor.
In the guy’s eBay post, he wrote:
“Good luck! You’re (sic) country depends on You!”
And the prosecutors for the State of Minnesota responded:
“We take it very seriously. Fundamentally, we believe it is wrong to sell your vote,” said John Aiken, a spokesman for the Minnesota prosecutor’s office. “There are people that have died for this country for our right to vote, and to take something that lightly, to say, ‘I can be bought.’
“It’s a real shame,” he said. “I can imagine the conversations being held in American Legion Clubs and VFWs about whether this is a joke or not.”
Anyone who can’t see the humor in a 19-year-old mockingly selling his vote should be put in the stocks for a day. Our country has sold out just about every value that we hold dear (i.e. honor, dignity, respect), sometimes all at once (see Iraq War). So I applaud this 19-year-old prick for getting those impotent lawyers’ dried up panties all in a bunch. Those damn prosecutors should take a look in the mirror and recognize the fickleness of what they are accomplishing - stamping out a timely joke with a jackhammer of fines and a jail sentence.

Cool response, Toby!
Those prosecutors must be bored in Minnesota. Nothing else to do?
